Holy Week Celebrations in Los Toros

During Holy Week, Semana Santa, we follow Jesus’ walk from Palm Sunday to the Cross and the Empty Tomb of Resurrection. Through these celebrations, we enter into the Pascal Mystery, the central experience of Christian life.
In Los Toros, the walk of Holy Week begins with a procession with palms through the streets of Los Toros to the church. The photograph above, taken in a previous year, shows people making the long walk from the farm fields outside the village to the parish church for the Mass and reading of the Passion.
Good Friday in Los Toros includes another walk through the streets. Young people, dressed as characters from the gospel stories, carry the cross to recall the events of the Way of the Cross.
The community of faith in Los Toros carries us in prayer and sends warmest wishes for a blessed Holy Week and a glorious Easter.
